How healthy are women across Europe? The majority of women surveyed rated their own health as average or good, and 16% said it was “excellent”.
The report found that roughly one-third of women had taken one or more medication during their pregnancy; this could be indicative of a growing acceptance of taking medication during pregnancy or else an increase in the number of women with co-morbid medication conditions that require treatment during pregnancy.
Older women were more likely to take medication, and were more likely to have a chronic condition. Ten per cent reported suffering from a chronic illness such as asthma, diabetes, and pain, among others.
Worryingly, 8% of women in the survey said they could not access healthcare or were discriminated against during their pregnancy.
